I saw her play the Tchaik with Detroit about a month ago. I'm no Tchaik fan, but the performance was stunning. Her solo encore ("The Earl King"?) was even more amazing. Hahn's formidable talents have been entirely thrown into the service of the music above all else. It's hard for me to imagine it getting any better than this. And in this town too, you could see the high regard and real joy on the faces of many orchestra members during and after the performace. It seems clear that Hahn is one of the truly great musicians of our time.
