And never mind "art." The Great Ones can generate hit songs AND create art while they're doing so; the Merely Very Good create soon-to-be-forgotten tunes as they make the big bucks for themselves and the industry.
What Jeff Porcaro did when he invented his "Roseanna" groove belongs in the Great Ones category IMHO.
