Post recording EQ is commonly phase adjustment, and it might be that "EQ" spectra across a wide recording plane/stage can be intelligently compensated for or controlled like optical focus (now that 3D audio spectra are commonly observable in software).
I haven't compared the recordings being discussed and have only seen a few Dudamel videos.
Each video left me exhillarated, which in the best of all possible worlds means that defects in the recording process have been minimized AND that something genuine created the sonic event.
