That was the rather provocative title of a program I heard on Ryerson University's FM station (Toronto) featuring the artist. I didn't catch the whole thing but essentially Brooks was a neglected atrist in the Blue Note lineup with 4 LPs recorded between 58 and 61 but they sat idle for a considerable period essentially killing his chances for recognition as a leader.

I heard a number of selections of his last, the apply name The Waiting Game, which refers to the fate of the earlier recordings. This was a high talent lineup including Johnny Coles (t), Kenny Drew (p),Wilbur Ware (b), Philly Joe Jones (d) with Brooks on Tenor Sax.

Hearing the slections begs the question why the neglect, truly top notch work. I beleive many of the numbers are Brooks' originals.

Everything matters, don't forget to tweak your placebos!
