Seriously, someone points to an artist offering up some free music as either a gift to existing/new fans, or as an enticement to potential fans, right? The original poster provides this information as HIS gift to the AA members. YOU then proceed to "apply" your "expertise" to:
(1) Position it, strategically, as some sort of wishful commercial agenda on the part of the artist.
(2) Assume that the artist somehow NEEDS a career boost. "Another Lydia Mordkovich"...not on WHOSE radar screen? Tasmin Little is not on WHOSE radar screen. Who made you the arbiter of obscurity? Do you think these artists care?
My problem here is YOU. And this has nothing to do with a background "in string playing". This is, as usual around this place, about those with knowledge being unable to act graciously to suppress their egos and, as a result, feeling that "looking a gift horse in the mouth" is some kind of contribution. Anyway, I hope that helps.
