The ballad was written with the idea that it would sound more like a tune written in the the 20's or 30's than the 70's or 80's.....and he was serious.
Some of the sax work is a lot, I think, looser and more emotional, maybe I mean a little less calculated by one of the cats. It was hard for me to pick the tunes because they all were interesting. I got these albums by chance because I went to hear some music and the leader on these albums was a sideman for the gig. We had known each other for a long time but didn't see him for quite some time. He thought I might like these 2 things so he mailed them to me immedately. Can't beat luck!
