Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Re: that piece with Cleveland is amazing and sublime on...

The one who submitted the video stated "Chicago Symphony", and I didn't recognize any of the string or wind players, predominant in the clip. (I would have recognized Daniel Majeske, Lynn Harrell, Maurice Sharp, Robert Marcellus, Lifschey or John Mack, etc. .... The only Chicago Symphony musician I'd recognize is Bud Herseth, but there were no predominant trumpet parts in this particular clip. I also presumed the oboist was Ray Still, but I was unable to confirm it was actually him. I've never heard Still produce such exquisite tone.) There was also a comment speculating that Szell may have liked the Chicago Symphony better than his own, but it's purely conjecture.

I didn't think Szell was stiff at all in the clip.
