Spinning a DG box set of the 6 Haydn Quartets performed by the Melos Quartet, this evening. Not usually a fan of later DG recordings - they tend to sound overly bright and thin in the mids on my system (accepting Karajan productions which are always reference point). But this one, being the Melos from 1977/78 seems to have it all, beautifully balanced; anyone recommend their current favourite set of the 6 Haydn Quartets worth searching out?
Enjoy
