If you like Chamber Music, and if you are open-minded enough to try inventive fusions, you should check out the Hungarian group AFTER CRYING. To me the best prog band of the 90´s for sure, but don´t worry if you are not into progrock, cause this is a very genuinely original band, different from any other prog stuff you have ever listened to and didn´t like probably because it sounded like some of those bands of the 70´s.By listening to the music of After Crying you won´t have that impression “I have already heard this somewhere”. Their music is inventive, and can be perhaps described as a synthesis of contemporary classical chamber and rock. The instrumentation is chamber typical: cello, viola, oboe, trumpet, bassoon, clarinet, trombone, piano and flute. Just some rock instruments here and there. Arrangements are extremely rich, and performance reflects a strong classical training.
If that interests you, I´d mention these two albums for starters: “Almost Pure Instrumental” and “De Profundis”.
Good listening.
Demetrio.
