Picked-up the Gould Bach 1, 4 and 5 keyboard concertos (Bernstein and Grolschman) disc yesterday. The 2004 remastering in which DSD and SBM were used.Does anyone have these performances in the pre-2004 non-DSD and SBM transfers to CD? I'm just curious if anyone has noticed a significant difference in sound quality. Without having heard the pre-2004 CD releases, the DSD/SBM version sounds pretty spectacular to me, especially the mono recording of #1 with Bernstein - the sound has real bite and attack, sounds like it was recorded yesterday (!)
Or maybe I'm imagining things (?)
