It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Classical composers associated with countries

It was interesting on our recent Scandinavian etc tour to see what music was associated with some of these countries.

FINLAND - Sibelius (no rival there)

NORWAY - Grieg (ditto)

SWEDEN - wait for it, ABBA!!!! No composer comes to mind

RUSSIA - Tchaikovsky (and Shostakovich last century)

POLAND - Chopin

AUSTRIA - Mozart (although some would claim Strauss)

GERMANY - Beethoven (and Wagner)

Here on it gets murky so some personal choices which you might care to correct:

FRANCE - Berlioz

ENGLAND - Delius or Elgar (or Britten in more recent times)

ITALY - Verdi

USA - Copland???

AUSTRALIA - Granger (or Sculphorpe in modern times)

????

All this is so subjective with tastes varying a lot, but your take?

John
