Yes John, that's a pretty sad story. How old is your lad? Hopefully he'll grow out of it some day when he starts yearning for something deeper in life.My little boy is only 2 but I could image how I'd feel if that happened to me. I want to try and lay the foundations for an appreciation of the beauty of fine music, reading and art. Hopefully after he'd gotton over any adolescent rebellious phase he'd build his own values based partly on those foundations.
At the moment my wife is play the Vengaboys "We Like to Party" album and my little boy is clapping his hands in glee. It strikes me that, in terms of sophistication, you have to have the mental age of a 2yo to appreciate this music. I want to steer him away from this rubbish but I'm not sure when to start.
