And, - there were some that were re-done yet again after a screw up. I think that one of the songs on Power Corruption and Lies had a 1 second stop in the middle of a song: that needed to fixed.
I bought Movement, and Low Life and all of the Joy Divisions. On Low Life, the bonus stuff is OK, - there's a re-do of Perfect Kiss that I've heard before that's pretty good. Movement has Ceremony, - as I remember. But, overall, my take is that the bonus discs are not that thrilling, - and my recommendation is to NOT buy any of these if the pricing is much over $10 to $14 US. If you can't get a good deal on these, don't get them.
I took a listen to Movement and really played both back to back and listened critically and the new remasters were better, but not by much. Instruments separated a little better, vocals stood out a little more, drums were a little more separated; but if you aren't listening closely.... YMMV. Also, - Movement is probably the worst of the recordings. Both versions have compression, and this smacks to me of trying to make the most of minimal effort.
Peter Hook was very frustrated with the mixes, I think largely due to the bonus disks that had pops and crackles in them and was angry that the band did not get a chance to preview the mixes and do some "quality control."
Some folks asserted that it was mainly the releases in Britain that had the bulk of the issues, - but I am not sure how Rhino/Warner distributes in England.
Typical of Rhino, - buying a catalog, - and then oppressively preventing anyone being involved in the project or the distribution of similar items.
