Anybody listen to South? Their first recording, - "From here on in," was brilliant IMO. James Lavelle/Unkle was their controller. Just somewhere in between downtempo/dance/folky... with some beautiful, haunting melodies, and some great female backup singing, and some darn amazing drumming. They were about 14 when they recorded it.
Trouble is, - it's pretty much the worst recording ever made. I am not too sure how many blankets were on top of the rough tracks, or how what kind of $25.66 compression machine gooshed the master into oblivion: but it's nearly unlistenable; so much so, - that it prompted me to write to them. (I know, who am I? Probably a dumb, if not arrogant call on my part).
Anyways, I picked up their second recording, (With the Tides), put it on our music server, - then sold it. The recording was much better, a veil was lifted, - trouble is, - the songs weren't very good IMO.
I guess that they have a new one out. Anyone heard it? I'm going to go see them, just on the chance that they'll play even one song from, "From here on in." Anyone see them yet? They're coming on the 14th...
I know that you think that you know what I said, but do you realize that what I said was not what I meant?
