We Are Pilots falls on the rocking side of the New Wave that has enjoyed a resurgence of late. The band sound fairly young, and that's reflected in their music, both to it's benefit and detriment. The album isn't groundbreaking, it isn't revolutionary, but it's very solidly and skillfully executed, and it's definitely worth hearing.
"Rainy Monday" is easily the best song on the album. It's structure and arrangement are sheer perfection, the ginormous hook in the chorus is simple and inspired, and the entire song is very accessible. You should also listen to the electro-stomping "Le Disko", even though it has a weird Beach Boys-ish interlude which really should have been excised and built into it's own song. That flaw aside, it's an entertaining track that has a bit of novelty about it, which probably explains why I've heard it used in at least two TV commercials.
Beyond those tracks, I'm not sure what to recommend for sampling, because there's a group of several songs that are of equivalent quality. I suppose "Don't Cry Out" would be good, it has a bit lighter feel and a grooving, catchy chorus. Or maybe "Chemistry of a Car Crash", for a slightly more aggressive sound that's nearly as engaging. "You Are The One" is also a very good song, although the chorus lets down it's nice verse and excellent bridge melodies.

Don't worry about the blood-red "Explicit" warning that Napster has plastered on every track on the album. There's one word in one song that inspired that hysteria, and it's in "Le Disko" if you care to know.___
