Hi folks,I have been around for about 5 months by now, and have developed some idea of how this place works. My perspectives will be most likely different from those of the regulars - I hope seeing things from a different angle will help the court eventually.
From the beginning, I had the suspicion that the closely-knitted, community-like nature of this place is inevitably associated with preclusion of others. I'm afraid I haven't been able to get that feeling off my chest after 5 months. I have noticed that, in most cases, the chit-chats from regulars get much more response and discussion than a well-thought post from a newcomer. This doesn't make me feel that the court is a place open to anyone who loves classical music.
Also I have observed, for the last month or so, that the conductor-bashing lost content. I'm all for the healthy debate and intelligent criticism with substance, and don't mind the occasional, light-hearted stab either, but it was getting repetitive and didn't really add anything. I was getting very tired of the court as a result. Same for the soccer threads - I have nothing against soccer but IMHO this is not the place (Thank you Joe).
Well, in fact I'm still hesitating about writing this post at this moment, as I do not wish to spoil the fun that some people have around here. And I certainly met people here whose posts are always intelligent, open-minded and with contents (you know who you are). I wish to see the court grow and become more diverse in both the posters and the musical contents.
P.S. Rob, if you're still reading this forum, I URGE you to come back. Your passion about music has been a great contribution to this place (not without its side-effects ;-)), and I'd like to see more of it. Well, you're probably not the world's greatest choice for a moderator ;-), and I think you'll agree with me there, but why don't you hang around as a regular poster?
