It occurs at the climax of the finale introduction, right after the heavy trombone passage is answered by a brass dominated tutti, after which the orchestra reiterate a portion of the opening theme in a decrecendo, which end the introduction; the allegro follows after a tiny pause.While the authorship of the crash is in some slight dispute, like that of the 7th, its extremely effective.
