You make it sound like we are talking about a guitar or other instrument. We are not and our objectives and results are VERY different. While it is true that cabinet resonance can GREATLY influence the sound, it it typically considered a poor design that tries to utilize this.

The problem with trying to utilize cabinet resonance is that the drivers may be reproducing notes that excite the cabinet via harmonics. This will cause the cabinet to add it's signal when there was originally nothing on the recording in that frequency range. There is no way to control what would / wouldn't cause the cabinet to resonate with various recorded material. That's typically why speakers sound better with increased definition and clarity when stiffer / deader cabinets are used. Sean
