Perhaps because, at least until fairly recently, the NFL got away with being a non-profit (tax exempt) organization.
You're welcome to google the facts yourself. NFL WAS a tax-exempt entity until 2015. Other leagues or sports may have a current "deal" with Uncle Sugar.
Me? I don't watch or follow any professional sports. OK... I'll admit - I don't watch or follow ANY sports, other than when I manage to stumble upon the 24 Hours of LeMans - which is rare. Paris-Dakar doesn't really exist anymore, and I've not seen an Australian Rules football match televised in a decade or more, so? Pretty much no sports for me.
