I suspect that much of that equipment really didn't sound as good as some of us remember. The capacitors are old and they are probably not worth repairing EXCEPT for the tuner sections. Some of the stand-along tuners are nice to restore.
A friend (long ago) had a Dynaco that sounded terrific.
If you want to save bucks, used home theater receivers are very inexpensive and some probably sound reasonable good as well. That is the way to go and then buy some decent cabling and loudspeakers and you should be set to go.
