To cope with current events (and that includes current events of any period of time), I'd recommend reading two things:
Thucydides, "History of the Peloponnesian War" to learn that the same crap happens over and over again and
Thornton Wilder, "The Skin of Our Teeth" to learn that it's all probably going to be okay in the long run.
