RE: It is.

This is Ben from Ono Audio (Formerly Beanstalk - rebranded just the once btw. The beanstalk brand turned out to be a bit too whimsical for international markets :). I take a small amount of offence to the "butchered" phrasing, but I'm genuinely curious how you feel we have changed the design for the worse?

In other words, if you were going to improve on the already excellent LXmini and had the following goals in mind, how would you approach it?

* Take effective frequency response from 16k to at least 24k
* Eliminate cabinet/enclosure resonances
* Make compact enough for desktop/studio use
* Make durable enough to ship around the world
* Develop a passive configuration that sounds as good as active
* Control the nulling around the perimeter of the basket without adding overtones
* Have enough margin to work through domestic and international dealers. (This is especially important for trying to build an actual business. Our margin is lower than the standard 7x which would put the cost of a stock LXmini at around $3,500 retail)

When we went to California to discuss our work with Linkwitz, it was clear that we had different visions for how his innovations could be implemented. He was very supportive of our developing our own vision, however, and seems to be proud that his configuration is flexible to deliver excellent results in a number of different applications.

Also, where did you find the LXmini assembled for $1,200? I often point people to the LXmini (even have a link on our product page) but was only aware of the magiclx521 site which has them for $2200 (ish) plus shipping from Europe. I love that you can build a pair for $600 and get a solid result.
