In fact I'd be pretty worried if there was a stand-out because that would indicate something was wrong.
More? If it's an instrument that I would normally hear in a live acoustic music concert, and I know the recording I am listening to is a multiple close-mono-miked mix-down, say by DGG, I really don't expect it to sound natural.
? Close miking alters timbre, always.
