I am afraid to say that your experience of this brand and the business environment surrounding it echoes more or less exactly the situation in the UK where it is no longer available AFAIK after numerous short lived distribution deals over many years.
Absolutely no availabilty of spares or any sort of backup.
Designs good, manufacturing/quality control poor, post sales service non-existent could be applied to certain brands. I will leave you to make up your mind if it applies to Electrocompaniet.
Have you noticed that the contact points given on their website are " for business partners, dealers and distributors only."? Customers must contact their local distributor but EC appear to ensure that their identity is not displayed anywhere on their website.
I am so sorry to say that you have joined friends of mine in owning a new door stop (subject to any local repairers who could take it on, but the lack of spares tends to prevent that approach).
