RE: When Did Audio Cables Become A Component

When Fulton discovered massive phase shift in what was until then regarded as adequate cable for audio components at I believe around 60 KHz in a contract for a Biology Research Lab intended to test the response of monkeys (who, like many animals, can hear frequencies much higher than humans) to audio.

He had built, under contract, components designed to meet the experimenter's specification. They didn't work. Yet, the components tested as intended; he eventually looked at the gear he provided as a system, and identified the cable as the problem.

This led to his exploration of certain parameters and the creation of audio interconnects specifically designed to eliminate the phase shift, which solved the issue with the contract.

As a result, the audio cable industry as we know it today was born. Circa 1977.
