RE: Repair Sony VPL VW 50 remote

I received the remote I ordered from amazon.com today. It is a Sony unit, and it does everything the original remote did and more, including accessing the menu. I also ordered a Diamond lamp, said to contain the same element as the Sony unit, but at less than half the price. If it is as effective as AVS suggests, I may move to replacing lamps at 6 month intervals. Low brightness level was a common complaint about the VW50-era Sony projectors. In my experience, brightness fades rapidly as hours are accumulated on a lamp.
