In a real double-blind study, the test subject would listen to only one audio component under evaluation. It might be the actual component, it might be a "placebo". The test results are the collective satisfaction of the group that listened to the actual component relative to the collective satisfaction of the group that listen to the "placebo". (The placebo might be an earlier version of the product.)

Double-blind testing does NOT involve the test subject "comparing" two products that he/she cannot see. This is known as an "A/B" test.
