Boom is often about room acoustics

Look into this. If so, then the only way you can avoid boomy bass, other than by "treating" the room is to use speakers that don't go below the frequency where things get boomy, or try pulling the speakers well away from all walls, and see if this doesn't reduce the problem.

Or maybe....it's the amp!
