The Greatest Love of All originally performed by the George Benson for the biopic movie The Greatest. This song was later covered by Whitney Houston. just check out the personnel on the original recording.
Personnel:
Writer - Michael Masser, Linda Creed
Arranger - Michael Masser, Lee Holdridge
Conductor, Orchestrated by - Lee Holdridge
Producer - Michael Masser
Lead Vocal - George Benson
Piano - Michael Masser
Guitar - Lee Ritenour
Drums - Harvey Mason
Bass - Stanley Banks
Who would have thought George Benson would need someone to sit in for him on guitar.
Whitney Houston also covered Dolly Parton's song, I will Always Love You. In my opinion, Whitney's cover is an improvement over the original
My favorite cover of all is Over the Rainbow performed by Eva Cassidy. A close second is Ella Fitzgerald's cover of the same standard.
Gladys Knight and the Pips hit, Iheard It Through the Grapevine was succesfully covered by the Rolling Stones and any number of artist, thereafter.
