RE: removing low/high gain switch completely from SUT then preamp

I am not surprised by the improvement in bypassing the switch. I noticed something similar with my SUT when I went from hardwired output cables to RCA output jacks. Even though the jacks were decent quality (WBT NextGen) and already broken in, there was such a drop in sound quality that I quickly went back to the hardwired setup.

I also noticed an improvement in sound quality with my linestage when I converted it to a dedicated single-input. No switches in the signal path whatsoever. Obviously not for everybody since changing inputs means moving cables around, but I listen almost exclusively to vinyl so for me there is no hassle at all.
