In the late forties I had German measles which nearly killed me. Lived in the bath tub with blocks of ice from the ice house. Wound up with nearsightedness and (I believe) tinnitus. Had a moderate case ever since. I avoid loud noises which are physically painful. Rock concerts are out of the question. My treble is zilch by 9K. Otherwise sounds nowadays( at 77) have to be a bit louder than years ago. People ask why I have invested in such a good stereo system since my hearing isnt very good and I tell them that's why- so I can control the sound. Turns out that in a quiet room I seem to hear what they tell me I cant.
