I have an Ekornes Stressless Leather Chair in a dedicated room. The two issues advanced to discourage its use appear to me to be of little to no consequence.
I assume if music is playing you are in the room and likely in the chair. Therefore, the leather chair is no longer a large reflective surface with you in it.
The height of the chair back is not a factor for two reasons. When the chair is reclined the back is no longer vertical in relation to your head or to the speakers. Also, reflective surfaces can be neutralized using proper acoustic treatments behind the listening position and elsewhere.
Music is a pleasurable experience. It is important to be comfortable while listening to it.
