I agree with the poster above. Just google hardwood stores near you. They really are everywhere. I build wood furniture for fun and it's great hobby. They will mill the maple to whatever size you want and for a bit extra they'll even rip and and chop saw to near size you need. I'd recommend starting with 8/4 (air dried if they have it) maple or thicker. That will give you a shelf that will be 1 3/4" or so. If you are able to, I'd cut dado's in the legs to get support. I don't know what you have for shop tools, but it's really cheap to get a Japanese saw, a sharp chisel and make your own joinery by hand. Lot's of great articles online if you Google. Most will have plans too. Keep us posted and share pics.
