I understand your point, but this Klipsch sub was hooked up to my "mildly" middle of the road HT, and had performed just great for six years. The volume had never really been maxed or even close. But what puzzled me was the same problem with 2 different subs, admittedly not the best (by a long shot) and one which was brand new. I just find it hard to understand how that happens. Then again, I don't understand how you plug in a tv & you see pictures. It's magic is what I finally determined. Thanks, Dave
