During the Spring 1988 semester, when Morrissey came out with his solo album, Viva Hate, we thought he'd throw one of his hissy fits, and then get back with The Smiths. Little did we know that, as of this writing, The Smiths would never reunite.
You have to understand, that, at my alma mater (above, in front of the main entrance), modern rock [in the 80s, the term "alternative" wasn't part of the vernacular] was extremely popular. Arguably, among my schoolmates, The Smiths were #1 in terms of intense devotion. So for the Smiths to break up is devastating.
Anyway, enjoy one of my faves, Viva Hate's"Everyday Is Like Sunday." And in the video, check out the 80s technology, including the Sony Sports Walkman. Love it!
