The Chas. Ponte sign above her shoulder tells me this photo was taken at the famous "Music Row" on West 48th in New York City. Here, you could have bought about anything you needed from a number of stores like Ponte, Mannys, and many more.

Today, all the Music Row stores are gone with a few exceptions. There are still some piano shops left on Piano Row on West 58th but again, nothing like the old days.
