it has been a banner year for wonderful documentaries. No doubt that JJ
was "blue". She would not have destroyed herself at such a young age.

To truly take in her raw talent- check out "Ball and Chain" from the Monterey Jazz festival via DVD/BR or a decent playback on youtube.
This is one of her very best performances, IMO.
