You've got it nailed! The LXstudio system is just the LXmini with the bass bins from the LX521.
What's interesting is that Madisound sells kits for the LXmini, LXstudio and the LX521. The prices aren't all that different. Including the DSP crossovers, the prices are:
LXmini - $398
LXstudio - $1693
LX521 - $ 1933
If it were me, I'd either do the LXmini and live with it, or just go the full LX521 route. I think that Linkwitz is seeing the LXstudio as being aimed at recording studio monitors.
