There's another option that hasn't been brought up. Perhaps you - and your wife - could make your former office space her "pretty room". Just try to make sure you spend as much time in there with her as she spends in front of the stereo with you.
I'm lucky - my wife only abandons the music room (living room) when the TV is on. She would rather be with me listening to tunes. It helps that when I met her she had the complete Monk/Coltrane CD set in her changer.......
