A smaller room such as you describe can be great for near-field listening. I once used a smaller bedroom as a dedicated listening room. It had doors to a walk-in closet and a bathroom, each of which I kept open when playing music to increase the total volume of the listening space (for reproduction of low frequencies). Careful set-up permitted a very nice soundstage while maintaining good tonal balance (as good as the speakers could deliver). A very enjoyable space. Let us know how it works out.
Cheers,
Ian
