Trading Large Unmanageable Room For a Smaller Manageable Room?

Anyone done this?
Here's the situation. I have a 15x20 LR which houses my 2 channel with all the trappings of a Living Room. It has to look pretty, be family friendly, etc. The room opens up to a 12 x 12 dining room in the back. But the worst part is that I cannot place speakers equidistant from the side walls due to a doorway on the front wall which leads to 2 BR's and the main bathroom. This also throws off the interaction of the ceiling which is vaulted A frame about 14 ft high in the center. Despite the problems, my system still sounds pretty good.

I have an office space which I no longer need as an office since I am retired. That space has an 8 ft ceiling height and is 13'-8" x 11'-5". Two windows would need treatment. But that's no problem. This room could be a dedicated room. I may need to down size speakers. But could it be a better sounding room without a lot of headaches?

I didn't know where to put this since Rives no longer has an active forum here. Guess I've been away for a long time. Anyway, thanks for the help.
