Tech help: Kyocera A710 high noise floor

I have a Kyocera A710 on my bench with a high noise floor. Well-built, well-maintained and clean throughout. No signs of abuse. Symptoms are low rumble/static, increases with chassis flex. Volume is scratchy throughout range, not increasing with CW rotation, Deoxit does nothing to help. Mute button injects a loud pop when switching on or off. All other controls have no untoward effects. Signal works on every input, noise aside, it sounds very good. Given this unit has a ceramic base to which every sub-assembly is affixed to, I can't count on the frame to carry the ground. The power supply is up to specification and clean except it droops when the rumbling gets very loud. The noise approaches speaker damaging levels, I'm using load resistors. Moving the main wiring harness around increases noise, though it never goes away completely. I've cleaned and reseated the couple dozen connectors, no change. Has anyone worked on a ceramic based chassis before or have tech advice to offer?
Thank you in advance, Steven.
