a little low powered amp with compression? I have a neighbor with a large room/high ceiling (12ft) that has tried a few things for sound, lastly a sound bar.
Due to the room size and its a hard room too, his hearing loss (he is 80) he is having trouble hearing the TV especially movies which he streams from Netflix.
So with his hearing loss and the high dynamic range of movies where explosions are loud and dialog is/can be very quiet I thought a little 10/20 watt amp w/compression or even external compression and then a decent speaker on the table next to the chair where he sits (2ft distance to ear) would be good. If he has a situation that physically will allow a speaker to his left AND right I'd do that.
I've never really seen a little amp w/compression so maybe a little amp and a compressor. I was thinking of this pair from PE for $125
