RE: Audio Shows and Bad Sound

Having been involved in a couple of show setups while working at Garland Audio in the late '70's, I'm of the opinion that hotel rooms used under show conditions aren't the same as rooms at home. Not even close. The power draw imposed by multiple vendors showing off their wares to what they hope is best advantage and the size, placement, acoustic profile, and ingress and egress patterns of visiting audiences are just a couple of the factors that differentiate them. Power conditioning and acoustic treatment may remediate the less-than-ideal show conditions somewhat, but I've never considered a show demonstration, however "good", a venue for serious evaluation of any component or system.
