Some back ground to two of the songs posted?

The soldier singing in 'only 19' likely volunteered. At 19 he was most unlikely to have been a conscript, the ballot happened around your 20th birthday. Many Australians think National Service was brought in for our involvement in Vietnam, but it was due to our commitments under ANZUS and SEATO, and began in the early 1960s.

"The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" mainly refers to Suvla Bay, one of the August 1915 battles intended to break out above or from Anzac Cove on the Gallipoli Peninsula. But it and all but one of the other attacks, were an even bigger stuff-up than the landing on the 25th April now called Anzac Day. Click link down the bottom.

The tin-hat or Brodie helmet aka the 'Kelly' helmet to the dough-boys, was not on issue anywhere in 1915. The song would work better for me if the phrase was slouch-hat. But I bet Eric Bogle wouldn't give a shit ;-)!

The August offensives - taken as a whole - were an utter failure.
