My wife has excellent musical taste, but it's not the same as mine. So I frequently audition new music in the car before I decide whether to play it in our joint listening sessions.
Also, I get virtually all my new music via cd, which I then rip to hard drive for home listening while keeping the cd for car listening. I like owning a physical product, and my car's audio system has a much better user interface with cds than with portable music players.
