What the function is is an interesting question. With the meters and pots I can see a resemblance to studio components. Still it does not have functions used in studios. Researching the functions on the board (PGM, Lym & Ion) results in products far removed from audio. That is that PGM likely stands for Personal Genome Machine!
If that is correct, as it appears to be an old instrument I'm guessing it has little to no resale value as a research tool.
Should you own this device and really need more details I have a neighbor high up on the human genome research chain who might have answers. Though she works long hours and it will take awhile.
