TAS: How to lose subscribers

I'm not renewing my subscription to The Absolute Sound. Reason? Same as always: high renewal cost ($36 for 1 yr.). In contrast, I just renewed with Stereophile ($40 for 3yrs.).

To make matters worse, I get this snide renewal notice from TAS. It states "This is the sixth renewal notice we've sent you. We can't keep doing this forever. In fact, UNLESS WE HEAR FROM YOU IMMEDIATELY, we cannot guarantee to keep your subscription to The Absolute Sound coming without interruption". It goes on.

Really, they need to take a different approach. Try a little kindness rather than issuing ultimatums. Maybe they need to look at their rivals methods to keep subscribers. Maybe they need a new subscriptions services manager.
PS: After Stereophile processed my renewal, they offered to extend it for one year for $9. I took them up on it.
