As long as it's something worth owning. In a world where convenience, disposability, profit, and resource conservation would seem to be simultaneously important "the cloud" exists for a reason. It would seem to be the easiest and most efficient way to keep and access a large collection of music, but I'm not ready to reach for the cloud just yet. I think I'll continue to collect old vinyl and CDs, not only because it is a form of recycling but because old records and old music are things worth owning, at least to me.It might be a good thing that the majority will look to "the cloud" for their music... or not. To resume vinyl and polycarbonate production on a huger scale again would certainly be a bad thing for the planet in many ways. OTOH, when the pace of technology tempts zillions of people to buy brand new computers and smartphones every year just so that we might maintain social status and/or keep up with "progress", there might be an even more awful drain on natural resources and many more different types of toxic waste problems to consider. The more of us there are, the less each of us may own.
Which thing is worse?
