Look for boxed sets by Bruno Walter - Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms. A great conductor. I second your remarks on Brendel. Some of Time-Life sets are excellent. I was lucky to inherit about 30 of these and have been surprised at their quality. The nice thing about box sets that I noticed is that often many of the records appear to have been rarely played and I have several records that are close to mint.
